1.
I have a pair of rainbow shoes for to walk across the sky But there's a hole in the left one where I ran out of time And if you were the ocean I would be a rowboat Too small to get by I have an aviator's hat, glasses and jacket match I could fly away any time I wanted to In my invisible airplane I could fly around the world But I'd come right back again I couldn't leave you behind So turn you're collar up against the wind and take refuge in my shadow We can pretend the rain is mistletoe and kiss under the clouds It'll take us back to christmas time when we were warm and we were happy It's been cold for so long So sing me a song of yesterday I'd like to come and laugh again I'd like to come and play But I cannot afford an aeroplane And I cannot walk across the sky I cannot fly

I never grew into coffee and cigarettes I never learned how to dance I never grew into black licorice But I'll take a spot of rum in my tea I never grew into coffee and cigarettes I kinda wish someone would teach me how to dance I've only got one left foot, I never grew into the other one The only move I know how to do is sway in time Back and forth and back and forth... I was in love with the prettiest girl For three long years in my first school Back when I thought cute gifts and kind words Could win your heart for me Left a little stone angel on your doorstep Bought it myself, wrapped it up for christmastime Wore my heart on my sleeve next time I saw you But you broke my little kid heart Back and forth and back and forth...

Apricot Tree 03:02
Would you dance with me Under the Apricot tree that grew in the backyard Of my first home Where I used to live Would you help me say Goodbye to the city that raised me But I never liked it there Seemed like nobody cared Would you count the stars up above with me Would you see where you could go with me Would you count the stars Up above Would you compare your scars with me Would you tell me stories of battles you've won And those you have lost Fights that you never fought Would you dance out on the lake with me Would you dance under the stars with me Would you dance away With the moon, tonight Would you come steal a car with me We could drive as far as our tired eyes could see Navigate the sky Come home for the sun

What does Love see when she closes her eyes What does Love see when she dreams of the future What does Love see when she closes her eyes What does Love dream about when she sleeps I bet it's hate turning over a new leaf I bet it's jealousy finally coming home I bet it's greed and charity Making up and working together What does Love see when she closes her eyes What does Love see when she dreams of the future What does Love see when she closes her eyes What does Love dream about when she sleeps Love sees you... You are hate turning over a new leaf You are jealousy finally coming home You are greed and charity Making up and working together You are the best thing I see in a day You are everything I could ever say You are the woman I gave my seat to on the bus You are love...

I won't walk for fear of stumbling I won't talk for fear I'll make you mad I won't walk for fear of tripping over my own tongue While it hangs from my mouth doing nothing I want it to I won't walk, I won't talk, I won't even watch if you want I'll be the perfect boy I won't walk, I won't talk, I won't even watch if you want I'll be your perfect little boy And maybe we'll be kings when dogs get their wings And fly through the air with excited barks And maybe we'll be fine when water turns to wine We'll be drunk all the time but we'll be good I won't walk, I won't talk, I won't even watch if you want I'll be the perfect boy I won't walk, I won't talk, I won't even watch if you want I'll be your perfect little boy And maybe we'll be kings when dogs get their wings And fly through the air with excited barks And maybe we'll be fine when water turns to wine We'll be drunk all the time but we'll be good...

I cut off my toes to spite the cold And give the sand no place to hold Perhaps a lapse in judgement Now I'm falling all the time So if you see me stumbling now you know It's my hubris shining through I thought to rid myself of everything I hate But I can still see you Do you remember when I lost my toes to spite the cold And give the sand no place to hold I thought to rid myself of everything I hate But I can still see you
7.
I am not much more than this pile of broken bones That we found on the side of the road Would you love me as I am if I came to you With a broken home No I am not much more... I am not much more than the wind at our backs As we walk through the fields as we make our own tracks Would you love me as I am if I came to you With empty hands No I am not much more... So we sing ourselves to sleep Cause our parents stopped telling stories So we sing ourselves to sleep Cause we're afraid of the dark No I am not much more than the blackflies on my collar As we walk through the forest in the footsteps of our fathers Would you love me as I am if I came to you Sick from the water No I am not much more... So we sing ourselves to sleep Cause our parents stopped telling stories So we sing ourselves to sleep Cause we're afraid of the dark I am not much more than the ripples in the stream That runs beneath the overpass where we could meet Would you love me as I am if I came to you With calloused feet No I am not much more... So we sing ourselves to sleep Cause our parents stopped telling stories So we sing ourselves to sleep Cause we're afraid of the dark
